On Sunday Quiksilver held a Wetsuit/Surfboard demo day in conjunction with Port Macquarie Surfboard Riders Club’s monthly comp day. Held at the mouth of Lake Cathie, surfers were greeted with 2ft clean fun waves and cool condition, perfect for trying out a few new boards and wetsuits. Joey from Quiky was on hand to tell us all about the boards and wetties, his knowledge proved valuable with guys ripping on his recommendations.
When the days competition and product testing was over the Inaugural Quiksilver Ironman Challenge was held...this involved a flags style start where the boys had to sprint and scull the drink of their choice. First to finish the scull had first choice of the Quiksilver Demo Boards (Warner’s, Bradley’s and Phipps’s), then the winner was decided by the first surfer back to the beach after catching two scoring waves. The Winner was club stalwart Chris “Big Brucey” Hetherington with an impressive lead gained after the scull there was no catching the big man. Best move went to Toddy Bourke with a sweet little punt on a Warner 5’6” and Worst Move went to Stuey Brook for his scull and what he sculled.
A couple of stand outs were the Quiksilver Cypher Chest Zip Steamer, great fit and plenty of flex everyone who tried it loved it. Also a Warner 5’10” x 19 ¾ rounded square , really fast and responsive and ridden by guys of all shapes and sizes all with positive feedback. A special thanks to Joey from Quiky, a great day was had by all that came down.
