“The lightest wetsuit ever” is a huge call but I think Billabong are on the money with this one.
The SGX claims to be “10% lighter when dry” and “20% lighter when wet” than the nearest competitor the Rip Curl E-Bomb. The Japanese light weight neoprene (ZG400R) with yarn coated water repellent treatment and the H2R military grade water repellent never soaks up water, so it never gets heavy and dries in 45mins.
The flexibility in this neoprene is top notch and feels nice on the skin making it a pleasure to wear. Apart from weight and flex this suit has all the features you’d expect in a top end suit – minimal seam design, critically welded seams, supatex 3d moulded knees and sleek styling.
For warmth I’d recommend the SGX in a chest zip, the one piece neck and no back zip means less water gets in keeping you extra toasty. I can say having tried it on, it’s one of the most comfortable suits I have ever worn.
